SWAIN METER
The Swain Meter Company manufactures portable DC current clamp meters that precisely measure the magnitude and direction of DC current flow on any conductor.
Why use Swain Meter?
Swain instruments:
- Can be used both onshore and offshore
- Assist with corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection by accurately reading current from 5mA to 200 Amps with a resolution of 1mA in the 0-2Amp range.
MER2® DC Amp Clips and Clamps are “Swain Sensors” which precisely detect the magnitude and direction of direct current flowing on magnetized conductors during normal operation without interrupting the circuit. Swain portable DC amp clips for cathodic protection above ground and subsea are manufactured from 2″ to 10″ in diameter.
MER2® (Magnetic Error Reduction doubled) type DC Amp Clips are generally more accurate for measuring direct current with a non-contact sensor.
They are
- Constructed to reduce errors due to non-uniform magnetic fields common on steel pipe, near rebar, or near the battery in cars and trucks.
- Protected from 300 A overload.
Swain Meter™ field portable, custom built, clamp-on DC Ammeters:
- Size range from 3/4” through 100”+ diameter
- Clips and Clamps are non-contact devices
- Cancels AC interference for accurate reads
- Shows direction and magnitude of current
